S.I.T's Lecturers

All S.I.T lecturers are qualified professionals or have relevant experience and are registered with the Education Department. The Institute believes that lecturing input from those in industry is essential to provide relevant experience on the issues and realities of working conditions. In addition, external guest speakers are periodically invited to present seminars or talks on academically related issues or current topics.

Practical training is compulsary for some courses. In the Building Site-Supervisor courses, a three months practical training is necessary. Borneo Development Corporation Sabah, a reputed property developer in Sabah normally provides training placement for students. S.I.T also has links with the private sector where students normally spend part of their time on industrial placement, subject to availability of vacancies. All S.I.T students are encouraged to enrol with the State libraries in Kota Kinabalu and Penampang, as well as the Sabah Foundation Research Library. Students are required to undertake research to complement all S.I.T lectures and notes.
