CMHR Excellence Award

Introduction

The Chief Minister’s Human Resource Excellence Award is an annual award program organized by the Sabah Skills & Technology Centre (SSTC).

This award recognizes the achievements in the area of Human Resource Development of Malaysia’s homegrown companies. It examines how an organization enables employees to develop and utilize their full potential, aligned with the organization’s objectives. Also examined are the organization’s efforts to build and maintain a work environment and an employee support climate conducive to performance excellence, full participation, and personal and organizational growth.

Objectives

The objectives of the Award are to:

1. Provide manufacturing companies operating in Sabah with the opportunity to be independently assess of their human resource practices.
2. Stimulate the companies in taking a proactive role in developing human resources.
3. Recognize the achievement of exemplary participating companies for other companies to emulate.

Three (3) winners from each award category shall be selected from amongst the nominations received. The assessment is based on the company’s commitment to training and development of its workforce.

Terms Of Participation

The annual award program is open to all manufacturing companies operating in Sabah.

Definition of Manufacturing

It is defined as the making, altering, blending, ornamenting, finishing or otherwise treating or adapting any article or substance with a view to its use, sale, transport, delivery or disposal and includes the assembly of parts and ship repairing but shall not include any activity normally associated with retail or wholesale trade.

The award is divided to 3 categories:

1. Company operating in Sabah with full-time employees of 50 or less and with an annual sales turnover of not more than RM10 million.
2. Company operating in Sabah with full-time employees between 51 to 150 workers with an annual sales turnover of more than RM10 million to RM25 million.
3. Company operating in Sabah annual sales turnover of more than RM25 million.

Eligibility

To be eligible, a company

1. Must be incorporated under Malaysia’s Companies Act.
2. Operating in Sabah and involved in the manufacturing.

If a company is found to have not fulfilled the above terms, it can be disqualified automatically without prior notice.

How To Participate

Submission can be made by completing an Eligibility Determination Form and when eligibility is confirmed, the Participation Form.

The Participation Form must be submitted together with relevant supporting documents.

Closing Date

All Eligibilty Determination Form with supporting documents must be submitted on or before 15 March 2002 to:

The recipients shall be:

1. Presented with the Chief Minister’s Human Resource Excellence Award trophy and certificate signed by the Chief Minister.
2. Able to use the logo for publicity purposes for three (3) years.
3. Invited to attend the Award Dinner.
4. Able to send 2 employees fully sponsored by SSTC, for any training programs organized by SSTC for 1 year.
5. Given a 30% discount on all NPC courses and publication.
6. Participating companies wil also receive a 10% discount on all NPC courses and publication. Both benefits are valid for 1 year.
7. Given internal and external recognition.
