How to Get there?
Over 45 international airlines fly into the country while national carrier Malaysia Airlines has a global network that spans six continents and a national network that covers more than 36 local destinations.

AirAsia, Malaysia's budget airline also services certain domestic and regional routes.

Most overseas visitors will arrive in Malaysia by plane. The standard route to Kinabalu is by air, via Kuala Lumpur, to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, and then onwards to the park overland.

Kuala Lumpur
Major airlines have direct fly to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The new Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in West (Peninsular) Malaysia is an ultra-modern and welcoming sight after a long flight. There are about 36 international carriers servicing the airport. The arrivals procedure is straightforward and signs are self-explanatory. The passengers have to change the flight to the capital of the state of Sabah (Kota Kinabalu) here.

Sabah / Kota Kinabalu
The passengers will be continuing on to Kota Kinabalu. When you arrive in Kota Kinabalu, it is better for you to have a place for rest before continuing your journey to Kinabalu Park. Kota Kinabalu International Airport is about 10km from the heart of Kota Kinabalu city. There are taxi services shuttling from the airport to the city center. The fare is about RM10 - RM15. Before taking the Airport Taxi Services, remember go to the airport counter for asking the fare before taking taxi for safety. There are also a lot of places for you to choose to spend your night sleep, from low-cost lodges to 5 star hotels.

Kinabalu Park Headquarters
The Local bus service have run once a day to Ranau from the main outstation bus stop in town which have passing the entrance of Kinabalu Park HQ. The buses leave at around 7.00am reaching the Kinabalu Park HQ at about 10.00am. It cost about RM15 to RM20 per person. Car rentals can be arranged through major hotels. At the time of writing, taxis to Ranau charge RM80 per taxi to Kinabalu Park HQ and only can take a maximum 4 passengers. They leave from the same outstation bus stop before 8.00am. You can negotiate for the taxi to pick you up from Kinabalu Park HQ for your return if you hire the whole taxi. It is an uphill and winding journey. If you are prone to get motion sickness, please bring along some medication.

Poring Hot Springs

If you do not have your own transport it is best to arrange this once you reach the Kinabalu Park HQ, through the Sabah parks or the accommodation management, Kinabalu Nature Resort. You could also get a bus to Ranau, where you change to the minibus to Poring Hot Springs.

Mesilau
If the unsealed stretch of road between Kundasang and Mesilau has been graded recently it is possible to do this trip in an ordinary car but a 4-wheel drive is always advisable. Transport can be arranged through Sabah Parks at Kinabalu Park HQ.
