The park is affected by both the south-west monsoon from May to July and by the
north-east monsoon from November to January, which are the wettest months. The
driest time is usually in March and April. The period between the monsoons in
August and September is also usually fairly dry but climatic variations can
occur in any months of the year.
The average temperatures range from 15°C - 24°C (60°F - 78°F) at Park
Headquarters (1563 meters/5128 feet), where it can be quite hot during the day
but much cooler at night. Poring Hot Springs (550 meters/1805 feet) in the
lowlands ranges from 20°C - 32°C (70°F - 94°F) and is hot and humid during the
day but cool at night. At Panar Laban Resthouse (3270 meters/10728 feet) on the
summit trail, average temperatures vary from 6°C - 14°C (42°F - 58°F), but can
sometimes reach almost freezing at night. |
