Analogue-Digital Conversion
Equipment in the exchange that are used to switch
the call is digital. This means
that somewhere along the subscriber line
from the telephone to the switching
equipment in the exchange an analogue-to-digital
conversion has to be carried
out. The conversion is normally done in
what is known as the subscriber stage.
Another digital-to-analogue conversion will
also be required if the call is to be
forwarded to another exchange, and the route
to this is analogue. This section
is known as the trunk and signaling part.
